Anna Oxley (Rintoul, 1993) was an active student - always getting involved in extra-curricular and community initiatives, as well as School Captain. Anna’s life has continued to be busy with work and a growing family. Anna always wanted kids, and together with her husband Chris they now have three kids aged from 7 to 12.

What Anna did not expect from parenting was the unexpected turn of receiving formal diagnoses of neurodiversity for them. The term neurodiversity refers to variation in the human brain regarding sociability, learning, attention, mood and other mental functions in a non-pathological sense.  It was coined in 1998 by Australian sociologist Judy Singer, and the concept was popularised by herself and American journalist Harvey Blume.

Anna has started an initiative called Takes a Village (www.takesavillage.com.au) to support families facing the same challenges she and her family have been living with.

This podcast interview (https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/work-like-a-motherfather/id1501422644?i=1000473713699) is a great introduction to this unexpected, challenging and ultimately joyful version of family life.

Anna is pleased to connect with any OLA families who would like to know more about anything discussed here.
