We recently heard from past staff member Nick Patten, who had received the January 2022 edition of Lauriston Life. He was saddened to read of the passing of former colleague Chris Zwalf whom he remembers well from his time at Lauriston. Nick wishes to pass on his condolences to Chris's family, friends, and colleagues. Nick says that Chris was a lovely man and that he enjoyed working with him at Lauriston. In the photo below, Chris is bottom row, 3rd from the right and Nick is top row, 5th from the right. ![]() Nick worked his last year in 1997 at Lauriston prior to leaving to take up a position with Tasmania Police. Mrs Ruth Tideman was the Principal then and Nick worked closely with other staff members Ben Fazio, David Potter and the library staff, maintaining computers and AV equipment and doing theatre lighting, etc. Nick mentioned that he took over from Ms Stella Flossos. Nick is retiring from Tasmania Police at the end of February 2022. He is retiring as a Sergeant in the Road and Public Order section and during his service, he has received the National Police Service Medal, the National Medal and Commissioners Medal for Diligent and Ethical Service with 20-year clasp. Congratulations on a wonderful career, Nick. Nick has good memories of his time as a member of staff at Lauriston and sends his best wishes to staff members who may remember him from his time at School, as well as a big hello to former staff members, who like Nick, are still connected to the school. Nick, we hope you have a wonderful retirement. Anytime you are in Melbourne, please consider walking through the Huntingtower gates so you can see how the school has evolved in the past 25 years. |
